Adidas Originals - House Party

We all remember the buzz around left and right project where two US design crews representing the East and the West coast were respectively given a giant left or right blank Adidas Original shoe for them to decorate. The result was pretty impressive and the buzz traveled quite well internationally.

Adidas Originals are back with this first class ad named "House Party" involving many celebrities who helped shape the Adidas brand. Actually, two ads since an invitation video to that House Party was available on youtube a few days before. The agency behind this project is the Montreal based Sid Lee.

Here at Consumer is Boss we really hope to get everyday more and more readers so then someday Reggie and I could be invited to this kind of parties. We greatly appreciate your help here...

Nokia N96 - Bruce Lee Ping Pong

I guess I am all about virals these days. Here is another entertaining one for Nokia starring Bruce Lee. It is for a limited edition Nokia phone that comes with a doll, rare photos and a nunchaku. It will be sold in Hong Kong. The comments around the Web remind us that Bruce Lee is still seen today as coming from another planet. I am quite doubtful concerning ping pong balls not being blown up by a nunchaku hit, and yet people keep asking if this is real or not...

Another question remains: Would Mr. Lee be proud of this?

I would! but that's just me...

Bike Hero

Fresh Viral from Droga5 for Guitar Hero World Tour. Right after Heidi Klum's freak out, we now witness one of the most creative videos on the Net. I wonder how long it took to prepare everything. Apparently it's fake but I still love the idea, and the result. Watch it here

We have already talked about Droga5 in a previous post concerning a famous presidential plane. You'll find the article here (In French)

How to make mums angry

The latest buzz comes directly from the US, where Johnson & Johnson's painkiller brand Motrin pulled its latest ad after hundreds or even thousands of angry "blogger mums" started to strike back. The ad was telling young mothers that Motrin could help them with "a good kind of pain". You know, the pain coming from the new trend of mothers wearing their babies in slings and wraps. You gotta love some of the lines in this ad, no wonder mums got angry! i.e. "Supposedly it's a real bonding experience," the announcer says over catchy graphics. "It totally makes me look like an official mom."

Don't mess with mums!

Toshiba Timesculpture

First of all, as you've been able to see, we've been through a few visual modifications here at consumer is boss. I hope the transformations will make your visit more pleasant. I'd like to thank Sebastien from the Bulko team for the cool new banner.

Last week I watched the new Toshiba ad. Even if I don't get the message immediately (or maybe not at all), the technique used is so amazing that it instantaneously gives me a better image of the brand. To watch the ad, click here

The work comes from Grey, an agency part of the WPP group. It faced a few difficulties recently but the creativity shown here will definitely help contradict its critics. In case you are wondering, the music is a remix from Crystal Castle's "Air war".

Family Name

In India, every year 1.1 million unborn baby girls die before they are born. Contract Advertising Mumbai made this disturbing ad for Aadhar Association against Female Foeticide. This print ad won Gold at the Cannes Lions last year and the "old school" look brought by the long body copy is just great.

Back in town & Obama 08

Long time no see. Particularly me. Reggie uploaded his last post in July and we wanted to restart this blog after the summer. Well, at least that was the plan. Big news is that I moved back to Geneva after a short copywriting assignment in the coolest agency in Bordeaux: Bulko . Met some really creative people there and it was great to see how work gets done in a smaller structure. The team was very professional and full of energy and I will definitely come back for a visit (Wine testing and some surfing also included in the plan).
I am now going through a placement for Saatchi & Saatchi Simko in Geneva. It is great to be working as a copywriter again and the briefs are very interesting. I will keep you posted on how it will go.

Enough about me. Today, just a quick link to a truly clever MoveOn gimmick that allows Obama's supporters to customize the video and convince their friends to vote. Click here.

It's always funnier once we're sure it's not going to happen...
